I am honored to have been able to collaborate with experts on the Open Society Foundation/Anti-Prostitution Pledge Coalition on the US Agency for International Development v.Alliance for Open Society International case. The question before the court was whether freedom of speech under the First Amendment protects government grantees from being compelled, as a condition of receiving federal funds, to adopt and espouse as their own the government’s policy on an issue of public debate. In a 6-2 ruling, the “Anti-Prostitution Pledge” was ruled unconstitutional.
